I recently read an article discussing the use of child booster seats and their impact on reducing injuries and deaths in vehicles crashes. Reducing injuries and deaths by nearly 20% in one year in New York.
I was amazed that not all states mandate the use of boosters. I can still remember how paranoid my wife and I were in making sure the child seats fit perfectly into our cars. We made sure that we took them by the police station so they could be doubled checked. Even when our children grew they stayed in the boosters till they were at least 7 years old.
It just was never a question, the child and booster seat meant more safety for our children. I think its sad that we have to think of this as being mandated to give our children the best safety possible in the event of a crash.

I just had the opportunity to drive the brand new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee at out New Smyrna Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership.
What an amazing vehicle. Beautiful interior, full roof sun roof with auto open. Air conditioned seats, satellite radio and dvd player. The 2011 Grand Cherokee had sensors in the front and rear for blind spots and to auto assist when getting close to other vehicles or obstacles.
Besides all of the great features the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has given the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee its highest “Top Safety Pick” rating. Read more at Free Press.

Here are some basic tips when it comes to fuel economy and some of the misconceptions.
1. small cars get better fuel economy
Incorrect, with the advent of hybrids and diesels fuel economy comes down to the vehicle. For instance, the 2011 Cruze will have a 40-m.p.g. highway rating that will exceed every gasoline-powered compact, and almost every subcompact.
2. premium gas increases fuel economy
Incorrect, higher gas grades do not provide better fuel economy. However, lower grades can result in an increased need for maintenance.
3. warming up your engine saves fuel
Incorrect, with today’s technology get and go.
4. manual transmissions save on fuel
Incorrect, again today’s technology has provided electronics and additional components that make automatic transmissions perform better with fuel economy.
5. the type of vehicle dictates fuel economy
Incorrect, the way you drive the car has the biggest impact on fuel economy. You can take the best fuel economy vehicle and jam the gas constantly and you will lose fuel efficiency.

Did you ever think you would see a hybrid pick up? Well Chrysler still has plans for a test fleet of 140 plug-in electric Dodge RAM pickup trucks. Thanks to a $48-million U.S. Department of Energy grant announced last year the Ram EV is expected to get 65% better fuel economy.
The battery-powered trucks will have a 12 kilowatt-hour lithium ion battery with Chrysler’s 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine. It is expected that the Ram EV will have the ability to travel up to 20 miles on the battery alone.
